In Kenroku-en Garden, Yuki tsuri ( the branch support with snow-ropes ) work
of prepararations for the winter bigan. ( It protect a tree from the snow damage )

It takes the work until the middle of December.

To start with the Karasaki pine tree every year.
This pine tree is most bigger than any other tree in the garden.

So they use 5 core pillar and about 800 rope for branch support.

One of the water for irrigation which represents Kanazawa is Tatsumi water
for irrigation.
It's Tatsumi water for irrigation the water from Saigawa which runs was taken in

Do you know Kanazawa people keep up a custom of eating "Himuro Dumplings"?

In the domain duties era, that's the day Kaga Domain presents an ice to Tokugawa Bakufu goverment.

According to the documents, those ices were lapped with bamboo leaves and carried all the way of 120 Li(about 480 km) to Edo(Tokyo) with taking 4 days long.

People in Kanazawa used to place dumplings on Shrine and pray that it arrives in Edo safely.

Also Kanazawa people eat dumplings instead of ice to beat the summer heat.

Himuro means natural refrigerator to keep snow.

They used to save snow there in winter and open it up on July 1 st (June 1 st in old calendar).
